Since 2003, EducAid Onlus collaborates with her Palestinian partner REC (Remedial Education Center) to promote an inclusive school for children with special needs.
In march 2009, a new project has started, Ga - S – Ink, supported by European Union, Regione Emilia – Romagna and the Municipality of Rimini, Ravenna and Riccione.
The project shall involve for three years REC’s educators, that they will support governmental teachers from six schools of the Northern part of Gaza Strip, in Jabalia and in Beit Lahia.
Ga - S – Ink encourages the important idea of an inclusive school for all, one of the main point of the Millenium Development Goals.
The Gaza Strip closure causes a worsening of the social and economic conditions. Children and adolescents are more vulnerable and they represent more than 50% of the Gaza Strip population. They couldn’t accede to psyco - social assistance, treatment and also suitable educational environment.
Children with learning difficulties are often excluded from school system, because there aren’t qualified teachers and right structures.
The project proposes to support teachers and educators, in close collaboration with Palestinian Ministry of Education and local community, in a didactic course that leads to promote an inclusive school, also for disadvantaged children. Through the creation of a net between all the involved subjects, EducAid and REC have the objective to facilitate a change of the policies, to protect the right to study of the children with special needs. Children and teachers will be the real protagonists, participating in different activities, but also Institutions and civil society will be involved.
The University of Bologna collaborates to the supervision of the adopted pedagogical strategy. While teachers and educators will participate to training course, organized by experts in scholastic inclusion field.
Instead children will take part to the activities in the school with REC’s educators, interacting with their disadvantaged friends, in this way they should understand that diversity represents a reach resource and also they should understand that every child has the right to study.
The REC’s educators will be involved in activities finalized to the creation of a net between teachers, parents and Institutions, in order to transmit the idea of the importance of an inclusive school, a school for all. The Ga - S – Ink shall promote nine training courses for the educational staff, periodic meeting with the involved actors.
The activities with children will be based on a recreational approach, to make easy the social inclusion of children with learning difficulties.
Moreover children will take part to an e – twinning project with an Italian school, to have the opportunity to know same age children that live in different context, through a web – site.
