Member of AOI (Association of Italian organizations of international cooperation and solidarity), of the Platform of Italian NGOs operating in the Mediterranean and Middle East, and of COONGER (Coordination of Italian NGOs in Emilia Romagna), in 2013 EducAid has founded the Italian Network on Disability and Development (RIDS), which includes AIFO, DPI Italy, FISH and OVCI, to promote the principles ratified by the ONU Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities even in the most inconvenienced contexts in countries of the Global South. Its activity is carried out in partnership with United Nations Agencies (UNICEF, WHO, UNDP, OCHA, ECHO) and with the Universities of Macerata and Bologna.

OUR HISTORY
EducAid was born at the start of the year 2000 from the common will of two realities in Rimini (the Italo-Swiss Educational Center – C.E.I.S. and the Social Cooperative Il Millepiedi) to give its contribution to the development of educational communities in countries facing difficult situations, starting from the experience matured in its territory and articulating its action with other actors of civil society, institutions, and public and private donators.
Italo-Swiss Educational Center
The Italo-Swiss Educational Center (C.E.I.S.) of Rimini was founded by Swiss Workers Relief in 1946. Its first director, the pedagogue Margherita Zoebeli, wanted to build this center in Rimini, destroyed by World War II, based on the population’s needs, especially the needs of the orphaned children and of the families with minors with disabilities.
Thought of as a space that could educate for democracy, human rights and enhancement of differences since the beginning, C.E.I.S. is still recognized for its policies of educative innovation and for the inclusion of children with physical and mental disabilities.
Social Cooperative
The Social Cooperative “Il Millepiedi” has worked in the field of social, recreational, and educative services since 1988. During these years it has directed numerous interventions, with particular attention to situations of marginalization and hardship, both directly and in collaboration with public bodies and local authorities.
It carries out activities in different fields: from early childhood to young people, from international cooperation to education, from minors to persons with disabilities, through social-educative, social welfare and social rehabilitation services.
