Educaid in Serbia
Serbia is an independent state of South-East Europe, set between the Pannonian Lowland and the Balkan Peninsula. It borders with Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania by means of a status disputed territory of Kosovo, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. The capital is Belgrade, which until 1991 was also the capital of the entire Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Serbia has been convicted guilty of crimes and massacres during the civil war that marked the end of Yugoslavia. The countries that were visited the most damage and the highest number of exterminated victims are Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.
Serbia had joined the Montenegro State Union of Serbia and Montenegro but, following the referendum of 21 May 2006, Montenegro voted for independence, the federation was dissolved and Serbia (as well as Montenegro) became a sovereign state.
