EVS Program
The responsibility in suitcase
The project "The responsibility in suitcase" aims to promote an ethical and sustainable tourism able to exploit the resources of the local community, promoting respect for human rights and break the stereotypes about Arab culture and its people who predominate in the West. The EVS provides the involvement of two Italian volunteers who will live a period of seven months in Palestine. The local partner will be the Alternative Tourism Group (ATG) based in Beit Sahour (Bethlehem). During this stay, the volunteers will be involved in advocacy and promotion activity of ethical and cultural tourism in Palestine, in search of Italian organizations working in the field of responsible tourism in order to establish new partnerships. They will be involved in organizing cultural tours of the group: assisting in the logistics group arrival and accompanied them to visit various sites of Palestinian Territory. The two volunteers will be engaged together in research on tourism in Palestine and in organizing campaigns to raise awareness of the socio-economic conditions of the Palestinian population (Pecking Olive and Tree Planting Campaigns) and making a video- photographic reportage to document the experience activities, by their proposal. The volunteers will participate in a course in Arabic to facilitate contact with the local community. The method applied aims to promote the active participation of volunteers in the lifecycle of a project to promote and enhance the skills of volunteers. The proposed activity aims to build an experience that can be an inspiration to new and future experiences for the volunteers, which continue to grow and explore new situations.
